Colombia; Air Force signs SR-560 ISR aircraft upgrade contract

The Colombian Air Force (FAC) has contracted the modernization of its Cessna Citation IV SR-560 Tracker aircraft. The aircraft have completed 15 years of continuous service in the country.

As reported, the company Albatross Indústria Aeronáutica Ltda will carry out the process at its facilities in Brazil. Two SR-560s will be upgraded with new systems, in a project costing approximately $50,000,000.

The work will consist of upgrading, increasing and optimising the intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) capabilities of the aircraft. This will be carried out so that the aircraft will be able to monitor communications, detect emissions and heading lines (LOBs), decode signals, precision in the detection and automatic classification of emitters from a new signal system (Sing) that will provide up to 16 new parallel channels for high-frequency digital signal broadcasts and broadband scanning.

New energy storage systems, parallel mission computers and Net Centric Data Recorder (NCDR), Power, Distribution and Protection Module (PDPM), KW Start Generator, Pico Display Head Up Display (PDHUD) and L-band KW radar amplifiers will also be incorporated, as well as means of managing the updating and obsolescence of military aircraft. in addition to the corresponding mechanical and electrical modifications that may be necessary.
